Application of emulsion polyacrylamide as profile control agent in oil field exploitation
In the process of oil field exploitation, a large number of polymer products are needed, among which PAM series polymer is the majority, and the application in the field of oil field accounts for more than 50% of the total domestic demand of polyacrylamide. Today we are going to introduce the application of emulsion polyacrylamide as a profile control agent in oil field exploitation.
Through systematic research and popularization and application, we have deeply studied the blocking mechanism, correlation mechanism and blocking agent structure design of polyacrylamide emulsion. Through the use of advanced water-in-oil emulsion polymerization process, the problems of difficult control of crosslinking time and crosslinking strength and inconvenient on-site preparation of polyacrylamide gel during water shutoff were solved. The plugging adjustment technology is to disperse the plugging agent in water on the ground and inject it into the designated position of the formation. Under the action of the formation temperature, the polyacrylamide emulsion and the crosslinking agent react to form a gel.
The test application in some domestic oilfields has proved that the plugging agent has the advantages of convenient dispersion and dissolution, low cost, easy control of gel-forming time and strength, etc., can achieve the purpose of blocking the water channel in the deep part of the formation, realizing the purpose of liquid flow direction, water control and oil increase, can receive better economic results, and has a good prospect of popularization and application.
In foreign countries, the use of water-in-oil emulsion polyacrylamide is very common, and it has the potential to replace dry powder products, which is mainly related to the maturity of the technology. In foreign industries, water-in-oil inverse emulsion polymerization is generally used to synthesize polyacrylamide internal compounds, but in China, the technology is still in the promotion stage. Many domestic polyacrylamide manufacturers have mastered the production technology, and related manufactured products have been introduced to the market and have achieved great repercussions.
In addition to producing traditional PAM dry powder polymers, the company is also actively engaged in the research and development and production of water-in-oil emulsion polyacrylamide. We find that inverse emulsion polymerization has many advantages compared with solution polymerization. The most significant characteristics are high polymerization rate. The obtained latex can make the polymer quickly soluble in water by adjusting the PH value of the system or adding emulsifiers, which is more convenient than powder products, these characteristics will also accelerate the popularity of emulsion polymers in the end-use markets.
Inverse emulsion polymerization provides a polymerization process for water-soluble monomers with high polymerization rates and high relative molecular weight polymerization products. Starting from the study of water-soluble polymers such as water-in-oil emulsion polyacrylamide and its derivatives, this technology will develop rapidly.
